| Due to the increasingly global nature of the
industry and to increased competition from the Far East, Wade closed its
factory in Leeds recently and discontinued production of the 18th Century
reproduction line. Although still a global company, Wade has also
moved its production of other lines offshore (from the UK) in order to
remain a viable volume producer. At the same time, Europa Fine Furniture, formerly the exclusive representative of Wade in North America, elected to continue production of Wade's 18th Century line and maintain the quality of bench made furniture that made Wade famous. |

Europa's (Wade) Features Today's skills are built on the best of yesterday, to ensure the finest reproduction furniture possible. We believe that the only way to create excellence is by allowing master craftsmen to work individually, building up each piece, so that pride in the job translates directly to beautiful furniture. High quality workmanship can only be expressed through the finest quality materials. Responsibility for each piece is shared by two craftsmen, one who builds the furniture, the other specializing in trench polishing, methods. Each craftsman spends years developing and improving his skills. We have a strong apprentice tradition, and, after an initial three years instruction, each trainee works for up to five further years alongside a master craftsman, before being allowed to work on his own. Careful French polishing methods and hand finishing allow us to offer four individual finishes. Traditional Mahogany deep red and russet tones, mellowed Mahogany, with golden tones, together with Yew tree and Walnut, both of which are temperate timbers selected to produce beautifully grained and individually figured pieces of furniture. |
