Craftsmanship

Europa understands the need for superior materials, joining methods, and outstanding finishes in the construction of fine furniture. While each of our collections vary in style and origin, they all have the same fine craftsmanship. As a result, our furniture is intended to last lifetimes.
Below are some examples of what you will find built into every case-good, table, and upholstered item we sell.

True eight-way hand tying on all upholstery

Eight-way hand-tied coil springing has been considered a mark of quality for decades. In this method each coil spring is placed in the seat by hand and a skilled craftsman ties the coil into place with twine and interlocks it with other coils using an intricate set of knots. Each coil is set so it responds to body weight with the proper degree of resiliency. Eight-way, hand-tying remains the standard of excellence for those who wish to have the very best.

Veneering

The best furniture produced today owes some of its exceptional beauty to veneers. Veneering allows great flexibility, making it possible to match grain patterns or use inlays to create designs that nature can't produce in the solid wood. Craftsmanship can be assessed by how well the wood grains match-up, as well as the uniformity of color. Europa Fine Furniture achieves this balance. This superior end result takes not only time, but also the type of quality veneers that our ultimate customer demands.

Use of kiln-dried hardwoods and dovetailing

Properly seasoned and kiln dried wood maintains its shape after cutting and is very split resistant, both recognized as important factors of fine furniture construction. As a result, its durability will last several lifetimes. The use of solid woods throughout the piece, including drawer sides, gives our furniture the quality found in fine antiques.

Dovetails are among the strongest of joinery techniques and at the top of the list for aesthetic appeal. Dovetails interlock provide extra gluing surfaces to ensure square construction. The combination of these solid woods and our dovetail joining methods set us apart from many manufacturers.

Finishing

While the available finishes vary from one collection to another, all the finishes of our products are hand made.
